Herberg Manor is the kind of place where your soul comes to be recharged.
Set in a gracious 1920s manor house in the heart of Somerset East, Herberg Manor offers a stay that feels calm, grounded, and quietly cared for. This is a house with history, softened by thoughtful hosting and an unhurried rhythm that invites guests to slow down and settle in.
Whether you arrive for work, rest, or a journey through the Eastern Cape, you are welcomed warmly and given space to breathe. Rooms are comfortable and considered, mornings begin with a generous breakfast, and the atmosphere is one of ease rather than excess.
Life in a small South African town comes with its realities, and Herberg Manor is prepared for them. With solar power, battery backup, and its own water supply, the house continues to run smoothly during load shedding and interruptions. Guests can relax knowing the essentials quietly work, allowing them to focus on rest rather than logistics.
From the garden and veranda to the dining room and bedrooms, Herberg Manor is a place to pause. A place to sleep well, eat well, and feel gently restored.
We look forward to welcoming you.

A Wonderful Stay with an Outstanding Host
Deon is an exceptional host. In all my travels, I have never met anyone who is as welcoming and attentive as he is. The property is beautifully maintained, with immaculate gardens and spotless rooms. A beautifully luxurious overnighter.
A beautiful historic building turned into a luxurious guesthouse. We stayed in the family room which had everything we needed and was very comfortable. The views are stunning. We felt well looked after and would recommend to anyone staying over in Somerset East. Deon, the manager, is very attentive and accommodating and great and keeping in touch.

Manager was very accommodating, on Sunday night he provided a meal which was beyond his remit. Abeautiful old house with a magnificent view. Our room was upgraded at no cost.
